My belt was just replaced last year about this time, and only has a few 1000 miles on it. Same goes for the CPS. A little coolant won't hurt anything right?

Well, if you are looking for the cheap easy way out, then go ahead. It won't hurt anything, i've in fact never heard of a CPS going out because of coolant on it, what a weird thought that was.........

Put a reg, or better uet, a piece of plastic milk jug under the water pump, to direct the coolant away from the CPS. Or, you could unscrew the CPS, and swing it out of the way.

Well I have replaced the water pump, timing belt is on, and this whole job didnt just go nice and easy, , I repaired my tranny line in the lower right corner. replaced my radiator, and just finished the upper service (new plugs wires gaskets etc.) one of the valve cover bolts broke off it was cross threaded when I started to take it out so it snapped, oh well....this car was bought for 400 bucks and I gues the word FORD explains it all....I am so glad I work on heavy trucks for a living and not cars I couldnt imagine the nightmares that flow through the dealerships and repair shops...as far as the vacume the air out ....well I didnt just fall off the turnip truck....good try though....this car has turned out to be a real project, not only overcoming the common rusted lines, crossthreaded bolts etc, but just dealing with a FORD...LOL I am appreciate the pic of your motor it helped me out a lot, this is the first SHO I have worked on, it helped me out a lot. Just to clear something up I have the car at my fiancees moms house in her garage, so I have been working on it (after working on trucks all day) a couple of hours a night and 5 or 6 hours on the weekend, needless to say it is not as easy as it looks on the project sho pages, but his pics have helped me greatly too. I appreciate all the positive input...Tom

Once you've been through it once....it's a lot easier.

And BTW...it's a Yamaha. Not a Ford.
...

And it's not a truck....be gentle with her
