How do I place speakers?

I wanted to utilize all of my speaker areas to replace the JBLs. This car had the Premium sound system. A few questions:

1. What speakers should I place where? There are the two speaker mounts in the dash, the two in the doors and the two/four in the rear.
2. What sizes fit in the stock holes? I'm guessing 3" in the dash, 4" in the doors, and a variety of sizes in the rear.

Guessing you have a gen 1...

Stock sizes are:

2 - 3.5 on top of the dash
2 - 5.25 in the front doors (a 6.5 will fit will slight modification)
2 - 6X8 in the rear
no center sub that I know of...

I was thinking to put some components in the dash, but maybe I'll just put two ways all around and save some hassle.
