well first you hit a deer going 40mph headbang atleast thats what i did. so the pressure in the system was released. during repairing the car i removed the front cooler thing. when i did my heater core i sawed off where the hoses go into the fire wall. when i did my water pump i removed all but the compressor. this has lightend the car about 20-30lbs. if you wish to not drive the compressor then your in for a lil work. THE COMPRESSOR BODY HAS TO STAY! its part of the motor mount. what you can do is gut out the compressor and remove the pully, but put back the housing. over all prolly about 1-2 hp and takes 30lb off the cars weight.

btw i think you will need a 41 inch belt.

Fastshomtx92,

Disconnect or cut the A/C hoses at the firewall.
(Not the heater hoses)

Disconnect or cut the hose at the condenser, thats the thing in front of the radiator.

Remove the bolts that hold the two hoses to the compressor. Remove the radiator, then remove the condenser. Next remove the electrical connection from the A/C clutch coil.

Then remove the compressor and the A/C clutch as an assembly (4 bolts). Thats it! Unless you want to remove the evaporator core from under the dash, that is it.

Now you need a belt that will go from the crank pulley to the alternator, and the adjusting idler pulley. You should be able to get a belt at any auto parts store. (A number of other folks have done this.)

What are you going to do with your old compressor?
I am interested, as I may be able to use it for parts, unless it is *****'ed. Please let me know. rangerj

you will need to make a simple bracket for the alt. or it will pivot. removing everything but the evaporator reduces about 35lbs off the front. you will need a shorter belt, a 5 rib can replace the 6 rib belt-41 5/8"
