How difficult is removing the resonator???

I would like to remove my resonator, how difficult is it. Can it be done by someone with average mech. skills or do I need to be part of a nascar pit crew to do it

I would just pay a shop to do it for you. You COULD just take a hacksaw and cut it off,splice in a new piece of pipe,and clamp it together,but it'll look better if it's welded up. I had mine removed last year. With the Flowmaster ****'s,it sounds pretty damn good for a "Taurus" hehe

its funny how you just posted this question...cause today i went and found out how much it would be to remove mine...im getting it done next monday..the guy said it should be around 30 dollars...and he said it should make it a bit louder..

LOL, what a coincidence, I guess I will do the same. Hey, the look of those 99 SHO rims is growing on me more and more. Can't wait to see what they look like wearing the RE730's.

hey Jay97SHO did you take your resonator off after you had the flowmasters or at the same time...if you got it taken off after, did it make your SHO noticeably louder??

First,I had the mufflers installed. It sounded nice,but it wasn't loud enough for me

A few weeks later,I had the res. removed. It did make a diff. to me,but it sounds real goodnow. Come springtime,I may have the stupid 3rd cat removed for more sound

I also have diff. tips installed. They are megaphone style,start out at around 2.5",flare out to 3.5" slash-cut tips,and I turned them sideways to match up with the bumper. If you guys want a pic,I can email you to show you wnat I am talking about. The tips are cheap,tho. I may be replacing them also.

Got my resonator removed today...took the guy less than 10 minutes..nicely welded...sounds a little louder, not too noticeable at idle but can def notice more sound when im gunnin it...it was worth the 30 dollars.

next step will be to start runnin nitrous so i have an excuse to get the exhaust dump contraption.
