SOOPACHARGED,

If the work was done at a Ford dealer in the last several years they can check by the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and pull up the record on their computer system. Any Ford and/or Lincoln/Mercury dealer can do this.

You could do a County or State records check, and find out who the prior owner(s) are/were and contact them by mail or phone. Motor vehicle titles are public records, and many states have such records "on line". "Let your fingers do the walking". rangerj

If the last person is getting rid of it, they most likely didn't do it. Usually people who have a taste/love for the car will do it and will keep the car. You won't see me selling mine. I did all the service except for the timeout I took after gashing my hand on a sprocket after busting a water pump bolt loose. I covered my hand before looking and repeated "no E.R, no E.R., no E.R!" When I removed my hand it was about a deep inch long cut. My moms is a nurse and said it was bad but probably didn't need the E.R. I've got a nice battle wound from that one and it cost me over a hundred dollars because my friend took off the crank sprocket with a crow bar and bent the vane badly. Last time that happened at a carnival with the punching bag machine. I think I slid up and hit the metal. I didn't go to the E.R. and my hand swoll up the next day due to infection and I had to go anyways. Back to the point.. The service is sometimes a reason people get rid of SHO's. It's really not too difficult. Just watch your hands around the sprockets!

I knew right away by looking at my rear plugs it ahd never been done. If someone took the time to do all of it, they should ahve done something as little as those things.

Having an 89 also, you may be able to tell if there are AGSP32P+ (not PP) plugs in the engine at all. These are original single platinum plugs. I had them in the rear.

Truth is unless it's documented or the replacement parts are new looking there really is no way to know for sure. I would suggest a rod bearing swap when the weather breaks and a healthy 60k. Should be ship shape after that.

I'd start by pulling the front spark plugs that are easy to reach. If you find oil in the wells and on the cable boots you know you have to take off the intake manifold and those valve covers. Then you can check the valve clearances.
