Posted up on Super Coupe forums, but no response. Since it's a ford too figured I'd see if anyone has a idea.

On my 94 SC Auto the alternator was going out, light would flicker and sometimes come on solid randomly. It was a cheap autozone looking rebuild that was on the car when I bought it. Got a reman ac delco from rock auto (sent me the wrong one first time around). put it on, battery was full charged by my charger while I did the swap. New alt installed, voltage is 14.1 while charging, all seems fine. Just noticed it got wicked hot within just a few moments after starting the car. Is this normal? Not noticing anything bad, but had a alternator catch fire in a f150 years ago, and have been paranoid about electrical ever since.

No experience with SC, but first thing to check would be wiring 'tween alternator/battery/ground. Could also have a defective unit, as is common in the SHO world ...
