So sunday morning I was rudely awakened at about 7 by my horn going off. I went outside and opened the door and it started going off again. It would just go off when nothing was touching it. I had noticed it had gotten super sensitive and I would just have to barely tap it for it to go off. It went off once or twice when I would turn on the cruise also. I'm guessing my road rage when I slam on the horn as hard as I can had something to do with it. What all am I going to have to replace?

This problem has been talked about quite awhile ago on here. What is happening is that its cooling and contracting and the contacts are touching and its setting it off. I am not sure what they did you fix the problem. New spring maybe? You might find something with a search.

I'm assuming this is on one of the Gen I's? The mechanic at my work recently found the same deal with one of the trucks here. The guy driving it would slam it hard all the time. I think it got to the point where the space between the inside contact and the steering wheel (where you push) just got too small and would randomly go off. Not quite sure what he did to fix it and I'm not sure how our horn contacts work, but in our trucks you would be able to bend the inner contact down a little to fix it.

It's an '89 right? If so take you horn pad off and pull the metal plate out of it. You will see that it is most likely warped inward from use over time. If you bend it flat again and be sure to not over tighten the screws it should fix the problem.

Bingo!

That pad should be flat, n0t concave.

I had mine do this to me and it took my looking at a non-bent steering wheel pad to realize that the PO had mashed the horn too many times.

Can this happen on Gen IIs? Because when I see something really stupid on the road that affects my safety or risks damaging my vheicle, I can be quite a horn masher myself...

No, this particular problem only effects '89s.
