mods. please e-mail greg to confirm but i did ask about this.
Now so he did mention something to me i wanted to clear up. im not going to go and put my name on the dotted line in hopes people will actually go through with a group by. theres no true way to trust everyone.
basically id like us to find just a cheaper alternative for aftermarket parts. i think group buys are to risky for anyone involved. plus to lets keep the ideas flowing.
i hope to see places to ask, designs, etc.
could be a nice barging tool for cincysho if 25 people are gonna head to a cheaper company for hoods. they would have a loss of 15,000. now i dont know how much it costs them to make and ship the hoods but im guessing they make at least a 150 dollar or more prophit on each hood.
so if anyone knows anothe company we'd all like to hear it

Steve charges so much because he just doesn`t make that many hoods.I really don`t think he makes all that much money off of them.Going to a larger company should find a cheaper price because they get the materials in bulk.Try talking to Cervini, you might get good results. Also try the place Badassv6`s mentioned since they`ve already showed interest in making small runs of hoods.I loved the MRE hood, but they only made the one,and that was over 2 years ago.

I talked with Cervini at Carlisle. No Go, no interest (at that time, anyway).

Perhaps talk to the body shop that did Kirk Doucette's awesome custom Gen 3 hood. Perhaps they'd be interested in doing them, or would know who & how & how much, etc.

M&M Auto Body, Dudley MA, (508) 943-7917

And again, just to clarify, has this been approved by Greg Raciti for posting on the Forum? If not, it's going to get removed again. Because if you're not coordinating any potential Group Buy, someone has to. And if you're using the forum to push a buy, the Forum should be cut in for some kind of percentage, which would help keep the Forum up & running anyway. Let's get the 100% all clear from Greg on this before we go nuts. At which point, this would need to be put in the Classifieds section anyway.

that gen 3 hood..is that the one ram air with 2 viper like holes?
i think it was on a white gen 3. it makes it look so cool i think if ford had done the gen 3's a little different we would now be talking about gen 4's

in the end id like to see me ending up with a gen 2 cowl hood for at the most 500 delivered.
i think the main reason my i want one to begin with is that my hood is shot and looks like crap.
plus the wight reduction of a fiberglass hood on an automatic is nice, plus the air flow through the cowl, and finally the fact that it gives a gen 2 a flashy yet sleak and subdued look.
i definatally dont wanna make my SHO attract cops anymore than it already does

i really like the idea of a ram air hood for the gen 1's , but seeing as how i will eventually be going with forced induction, i don't really need one (still like the look) but i would like to see someone do something different with the hood. camaros have like 10 diff. hoods in the aftermarket and we only have two. would like to see some variety.

Have you contacted Steve at TC Spoiler? I'm sure he could at least get you in the right direction with a design and/or prices.

Honestly, a ram air and cowl are for looks for the most part. It will help keep the engine slightly cooler. Unless the car is designed from the factory for ram air, its hard to duplicate it. Bringing center scoops over to the airbox will not do much. Are they worth it? I think so just cause of the looks.

Thanks for the good words.

Were going to make a 1 off for my gen2 very soon, and Ill also have one done on my Gen1 as well sometime next year.

The tuffest part is making it look right, it took 2 weeks to start and finish mine but took 6 months to find (IMHO) what would look right on the car with the body lines. For the Gen2 we already have the donor hood now we just need time.

Maybe Ill duplicate the Gen 3 hood on all 3 cars.

Hey Jeremy, look in the mirror if you can, ah times up did it break?

I got a question....the hoods with the cowl...
1.) do they just have the cowl and you can see into the engine from driver's seat?
2.) Do they really draw out the hot air more?
3.) Do they have the potential to not be able to be driven in rain......

All these questions for a daily driver.....
Thanks much

i just had a thought. that with a good chunk of the insulator material cut to the right shape it could be used in winter to plug the cowl then taken out, put in the trunk, and put in when it rains or sitting outside. i think it would prevent any moisture from being pushed onto the engine or too close to the plug wells.
just a thought but there has to be a good way
