I could care less about my lampout light in my cluster, anyone think it would be possible to replace it with say a cruise control light? Is that do-able or possible? I like cars that have that little light.

Alternately i have seen a friends Del Sol that actually had a different guage bezel installed and he now has a VTEC light on his cluster. I was thinking we could have a SHO light or something that lights when our secondaries open? Should be about the same as the vtec as they are both computer then vaccum operated right?

Anyone...Anyone?

The easiest way to set up a light like that is either put a microswitch on the secondary shaft(might affect movement)or use a shift light set to the same rpms that they open.

Probably easier to tap into the electrical signal that goes to the secondary runner controller. I haven't taken a look at the wiring diagrams, since .. well, I see no reason to do this, but theoretically one could take a wire directly off the ECU and use it to trigger a comparator to turn on a light...

bump (a month and a half later)

Anyone looked at the wiring diagrams? I think it would be neat to mount a small shift light behind the passanger dash, and dremel out the SHO emblem. That way, when the engine hits 4,000 RPM, the light will light the opening. Any ideas on how to do this?

I still think it would be cool....good idea dont go bad they just get recycled. Think about how often you have read about turbo charging a SHO cause someone has an old tbird turbo sitting in a box and a friend at a muffler shop willing to fabricate all the pipes.....

YET, i have only heard of one running turbo SHO engine that stayed in an SHO...yet this idea is still around.

On the '93 mtx that would be the light greeen and pink wire on pin 32 of the PCM for the secondary intake runner control.

On the '93 atx it is the same color wire pin 34.

Same for the '94s.

Why not just install an Auto Meter Quick Lite w/RPM activated module? You can then put a 4000 rpm pill in and the LED light will stay on from 4000rpm and up, or whenever your secondaries open. Then when you get bored of a light coming on at 4000 rpm, you can actually use the light for a purpose by putting a higher pill in to make the light come on when you want to shift.

Simply hook up a light using the 2 wires from the actual air valve that "releases" the secondary butterfly valves.(behind the intake manifold, in front of the firewall).

There are 2 possibilities:

1. When the ECU detects 400RPM, it gives power to the valve. In this case, simply wire a bright LED(s) off of this power source. Simple.

2. When the motor is started, there is always power to this valve, untill the the ECU cuts the power at 4K

Use a test light. Start the car:
If there is power going to this valve while the car is at idle, then option #2 is the case. You can hook up a small relay in a configuration to power an LED when the power is off to this curcuit. Still easier (and cheaper) than hookin up an RPM switch.

If there is no power to this valve at idle, the option #1 is the case. Simply tap into this power wire to power a couple bright LED(s) when the valve is activated.
(**** this scenario is so simple, I might do it myself! :) )
