Anyone running a high output alt? 160-200amp? And does anyone know where to find a high output Alt for 94-95 MTX?

This is the only 1 I have seen recently, and have no idea if it's legit:

ebay 130682235123

I remember it being offered as a performance upgrade quite some time ago on one of the SHO vendor sites, but no longer.

I think you might have the best luck bringing it to a local shop that rebuilds them and tell them what you want. We all know that getting another alternator is a crapshoot at best on a stock replacement, so even if you can find one with the output you want, who knows if it will even last.....

I wonder if one of the Mustang high amp alternator people can do the same to it. PA Performance would be one that I can think of. It's a 3G alt, it just has an oddball case...

I think I remember seeing something where there was a polished version of an upgraded one. Pretty sure those were 130-40... not near 200 amps. That would come in handy due to my new stereo. I'd need all the 94-5 brackets and a harness and I should be better off I'd think. I notice my lights start to blink fast at stoplights at night. :)

I think it was CincySHO's site that I had seen one on, but yeah, don't think it was 200 amps either.

Found a local place that will sell me a 200amp stator for $73 plus tax. Now I just need to find some cores.

Mine was rebuilt. It puts out 163 amps at 2200rpm.
Keep in mind that a higher ouput alt will generate more power at 2000rpm and up, but will also make less power than stock alt at idle.

i spoke with a alt shop before they told me there is no rebuilding them bigger... as people before said about rewinding them isnt possible... only thing is to get all new insides and its not possible with 90% of the alts out there, i guess its rare to be able to upgrade alts with new parts... almost always its a whole new alt so your best off buying one off ebay or someplace else..

Your shop is wrong. I have a 200amp winding in my 3g alt as well as heavy duty rectifier and HD voltage regulator. On the test bench it pegged the 200amp gauge.
More windings mean more power at any RPM. I have no issues with everything on including the cooling fans at idle making 13.8-14.2v depending on temp and my alt is under driven.

i stand corrected.. sounds like a **** of a alt tho... i have a stock alt for my 92 with a UDP and it seems to charge ok long as i dont let it idle for more then 20 mins it keeps the charge...
