Im looking at going high compression over the winter. I spent some time on the phone with Wiseco and got some good answers and quotes. My plan on is going with a 12:1 compression motor with a 93mm bore.

My questions is do you think for street duty will I be able to run 93 octane? If pre ignition happens can the knock sensor compensate for the higher compression? I know most of the HC guys are going 10.5-6:1 and running 93 with no problem.

What was deaconblue's custom built motor running? I'd shoot him a pm and talk to Josh at shonut.

Your cams are going to help you some since they reduce your cranking compression, but I don't know if it would be enough. I know the knock sensor's ability to pull timing can be increased with an LPM. Beyond that I don't know if you would need to fiddle with the stock timing curve to keep detonation from happening.

Were you planning on doing some custom tuning to it?

Well I plan on running a twEECer. Im pretty confident from my research I should have no problem with 12:1 on 93. It will definitely not be the recipe for power but it will work. The power will be made when I throw some race gas in there so I can take advantage of the compression. I know with the tweecer I can pull timing to prevent preignition so I gueess that will be the plan. I guess I will have to find out the hard way since I only know of 2-3 motors running that kind of compression.
