I want HID's, especially since half the driving I do is at night. I've read a lot of stuff on doing HID's for our cars. Maybe something like this could work. Maybe Fred Hurder can chime in with his thoughts. I heard he used HIDs before on his SHO.

SHOCAGO had a meet in July at the Victor Ford SHOW. A non SHOCAGO member came there with a totally modified SHO. Red Gen 2. Had moved the Climate control to the lower part of the dash, installed a DVD screen where the climate control was, a fold down DVD screen from the ceiling, a huge system, shaved doors, 2 tone brand new SHO seats. Red down the middle and gray on the side. And the Guy had HID's!!! Apparently they made a conversion kit that is the same specs to the regular lights (fittings) I think the cost was over $600. MikeyTaurus has pics of the HIDS and the modded SHO!

Just wondering if any of you have ever seen this. It may be possible to do something similar to our cars.

I dont get what you mean?

HID's arent car specific, they just go by what size bulb you use for you car in our case we use 9007 and Philips happen to sell the 9007 kit in Stage I and Stage II. Only reason I believe not many SHO owners have HID's is b/c of there cost, most SHO owners can barly keep there SHO running right so headlights are usually there last mod on there "to do" list :) . Of course there may be many other reason but thats my guess. I have already installed the Stage I Philips kit in my foglights on my TL-S to match the stock HID's, once I fix the moisture problem with my SHO on the left headlight it'll sporting a Stage II 6000K HID kit  .

It's not a money issue with me. I already have the PIAA 930's, plenty of output for my car.

Chris, last time I contacted you, you said you had an idea about recovering the lens. What did you come up with.I have a few ideas going through my head, but since I have half of my motor and suspension apart, headlights will be my last project. If you don't want to reveal here, please feel free to contact me via e-mail.(Don't worry, I won't tell!!)

I have 2 peices of lexan that I cut with a jigsaw, so they are curved like the front of the lens. Then I put them perpendicular, and sealed them up. Hopefully you get what I'm saying.

Lexan is super strong, but is UV light sensitive and gets yellow easily, whereas Plexiglass is resistant to yellowing, just needs to be a little thicker.
I sprayed Duratuff clear UV inhibiting urethane on my stock lights. what you are doing looks pretty good so far.

email me offline about HIDs replacement kits for the Gen 1, 2, or 3 SHO. I'll give you the contact info & the pricing for what I installed in my car. Unfortunately, the "group buy" was launched at the same time as the original changes in the classifieds section, and this section's not going to turn into a "Classifieds Loophole".

[email protected]

Thanks.

Jason - did you get the HIDs from my source, are you still waiting, or did you go elsewhere? Just asking.

Fred, I got my HID's from a store in Houston called ProAm quite a ways back.

What kind of plastic do they use on headlights of newer cars? For example the new Mustangs.

Just a thought, wouldnt higher quality glass housings be better? Like HID's on a Max(which i have seen) b/c they have a full glass housing unlike our plastic SHO's housing.

Fred is your source HIDs4less.com ??? They used to be located in cumberland, they have since moved to pawtucket. And they are giving discounts if you call and go in person :) .
