Well, I just got my new HIDs installed tonight. Cost was fantastic, and I understand that these guys are putting together a group buy for us SHO folks. News / Announcement should be coming anytime now.

I had the PIAA 9007's (which were an improvement over the stockers), but were absolutely no match for the HIDs. The PIAAs are coincidentally going to be listed in the Classifieds section... :D

This was a VERY nice kit, everything was nice & smooth, and they found room for everything, even with the relocated battery & that whirly-gig whistling thing in the engine bay.

Thanks to GaryH for clueing me in on these.

Now I just gotta aim them right!

Hey Sylvania-Man, show me a better Osram/Sylvania kit & I'll happily trade in my Philips (oops - "p-word") kit :) . Better get "Crackin"!

Mark - if you use a 9007 bulb, it's the same kit. I'm not up to speed on what bulbs the Gen 3's use.

Hey Fred do you know if the higher output of light can damage the lens at all? Because I recently bought new headlights and can get a deal on Stage II HID's(like on my TL-S) for only $350(MSRP [email protected]). If they dont cause problems in the long run on the SHO, it would be nice to have two HID(ed) cars together(I smell a video  burn_out )

Do you have any pics of installation or the before and after product? I have been interested in HID for quite some time but never saw them on a SHO.

Edien,
I really doubt if the higher light output would damage anything.
HIDs actually are a lower wattage bulb (usually 30 watts or so) and put out less heat than a halogen bulb.

And yes the Gen IIIs use the 9007 bulb. Let us know when we can get these kits, Fred. I want one!!

I didn't do a before & after pic (duh, stupid of me), but we briefly did a PIAA vs HID comparison.

WOW.

I'm already thinking about doing the fishtank to turn-signal lamp conversion so I can turn the turn-signal areas into a high-beam aimed HID setup. Another thing that went through my mind last night while talking to these guys was replacing the front light bezels completely & doing a BMW Angel-Eyes Conversion. :D

I'm really going to need that padded room soon.

Yea your really going nutz Fred, dont you think it would be more common to have the HID's where the old headlights were and new aftermarket plasma 9007 bulbs(or another pair of HID's if you just wanna blind ppl) where the turn signals are and fishtanks into turn signals, to finsih it off nice PIAA HID driving lights below. LOL after a setup like that, you can be the backup for the Mccoy Stadium tower lights thumbs_u .

ChrisR I just got my TL-S back yesterday with a nice body kit. So far thats all I have plus the 20% tint(which I made the appt to a week before I even owned my TL-S; yes i'm sick when it comes to tint :p ). By the end of July/August I should have my special ordered ZEAL Function B-6 coilovers(shocks/springs are all one unit), stiffness is 6way adjustable, and will go 2" up and 6" down. After that i'm leaving the TL-S alone until next year when i'll buy 20x8.5 and finish it off with Comtech headers(add 30FWHP to VTEC TL-S's) or the full Comptech package which includes a 8PSI S/Cer, I just know I have to do something real good for performance considering i'm going with 20's.

cl20.jpg

Thats a older CL with 245/35/20 what you think?

I think they are too much wheel and not enough space. They'd look GREAT if they could thin them out a little. You remember that bad azz blue SHO from a while ago with the chrome 18s (I think it was?) ? I'll bet those wheel would look tight!

You mean Yohancee, hea: http://ri-sho.tripod.com/yh/ with 18x7.5 Alba Blaze rims. There a good looking rim but just not on my TL-S, I want something from Lowen Hart, Lorinsers, or Dronells like my friend's GS400(pics coming soon he has a full LSportline body kit/exhaust too). What you guys think of this wheel vizualizer from Alba: http://www.albawheels.com/alba/vwoc.htm

I think you've been spending too much time in the 'hood, Dave. I think they'd look great if you thinned them down to a reasonable size. Say, 17" in diameter.

Edien- Yeah that's who I was referring to. I can see how those might not go quite right with the TL-S though. I'll have to check out some of those sites and see if anything catches my eye.

John- Well..what can I say... http://www.colute.net/cwm/otn/glasses/****.gif Actually, I'm trying to compensate for all the hee-haww redneck trucks I see down here (you know..no newer than 1987, all with crappy dual exhaust). In all honesty, there are some cars I think look SWEET with huge chrome rims. I was cruisin' around one night and some guy with his wife rolled up to Giant Eagle in a black Z71 truck. Tint was like 5%, and it had huge chrome rims, 20s maybe, but they could have been 22s. It was lowered, probably an inch, if that, of wheel gap. It was beyond mint condition, and I don't think I've seen a finer vehicle, it was just really really neat. I wouldn't go any bigger than 18s on an SHO, though, and I don't even think I would do it myself. Whatever floats your boat :) .
