D3 S is what the magic book (owner's manual) says, pg 316 on the revision of the PDF I have.

Haven't the foggiest, as the only thing the OM says is:

The headlamps on your vehicle use a “high intensity discharge” source.
These lamps operate at a high voltage. When the bulb is burned out, the
bulb and starter capsule assembly must be replaced by your authorized
dealer.

I wouldn't say it's beyond DIY just because of that though. The parts ARE available from the dealer, MAY be upgradable to aftermarket if that is your intent

You'd have to search, but someone on here or EBPF upgraded to a whiter bulb. If I remember correctly, he got bulbs from Ebay for about $35 and installed them himself and there was talk of doing them without removing the headlight assy.

That's great go figure I want to upgrade them to either 6000k or 8000k. Something always gotta be a PITA

I believe the stock bulb is a 4300K. 5000K and up can be found on eBay and other sources. They're quite expensive, though. I have large hands and I pulled the driver side bulb without removing anything from the engine compartment. It's really easy to remove and reinstall. The igniter is built into the bulb assembly, so you would just need to purchase the one item.

You have the hid bulbs as well and your saying it's easy? I'll have to try it and they are somewhat expensive depends on what brand
