Doesnt happen all the time.. Hit the gas hard but not WOT from a slow rolling start and it doesnt kick in right away, almost bogs down then it REALLY kicks in.. no codes, no other problems.. Im guessing Plug wires, but i dont like to spend money w/out a second opinion. wires have 126K on them

Check your plug wells for oil. This could cause a hesitation. You may want to replace your plugs, wires, and intake seals if you have oil in your wells. Just make sure you get out all the old oil in the wells before you take the plugs out.

I had the same problem with my car. I replaced the fuel pump with a Walbro and the hesitation went away. I'm not sure if that will fix your problem but it worked for me.

Some other things to check would be the TPS and maybe see if the throttle cable is frayed anywhere.

My 94 ATX does the exact same thing. It has been really bothering me. Of course I just went and saw my mechanic and it didn't do it and then as soon as I left the garage I got it to do it. Does your car also have problems starting sometimes? I find that sometimes it doesn't want to start the first time I try but then the second time it always starts up. I also just replaced my plug wires and my plugs and its still doing it. Any thoughts on how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated!!!

It could also be a poor signal from the throttle position sensor. A fluctuating signal can cause the hesitation and not set a code. This TPS condition can make the engine feel like there was no accelerator pump (for those that remember carburetors) and not pick up rpm quickly with a fast throttle opening.
