Hi all, I ran the KOEO test according to instructions I found on the site. I really dunno what this all means, the flashes seemed random and did not follow a 3-digit pattern.

Here is the sequence qhich I saw, check it 3 times to be sure... (94 MTX)

1
1,1,1
1,1,1
1,1,7
6,5
4,2,1
7,6,5
4,2

What does this mean???

Any help would be very greatly appreciated!

You need to run this again just so you know the number repeat. First once the test is done it will show hard fault code(what fails during the test. 111 is sytem pass) Then it will show memory codes which what the PCM stores failures while driving(anytime the CIL comes on. Please rerun and repost.

After the first set of flashes did cycle the following (steering wheel, brakes, and overdrive switch) it is required for the test to be correct also towards the end of the test you must goose the throttle up to about 3-3.5k to complete the test. If you didnt do the first part it will not even send you the codes.

Navel: He ran the engine off test.

Deaks2:

I'm gonna guess this. 11 is test done.
111 is hard fault est passed and it repeats.
176 is Left/front HO2S lean
542 is Fuel pump secondary circuit failure.
then it repeats both codes.
Now 542 just means that the fuel pump shut off while the PCM had it running. Typically if the inertia switch in the trunk was bad and caused the fuel pump to intermitidly shut off.
NOW...with some investigating this is what I found:

NOTE: Due to the Internal circuitry of the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) , an intermittent left/front Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) signal short to power could produce a Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 542
So with this it would lead me to believe that the O2 sensors need replaceing. But I would really need you to run the KOER test and tell me the codes there so I can try and pinpoint this for you.

Sorry I didn't even pay attention to that I just looked at the codes and they were FU(* up they way they were wrote. So I assumed they were the quick flashes prior the steps I listed as not being accomplished. I have one of those Scan tools so it displays everything for me and talls me what to do and what each code means.

I appreciate both of you helping me out wink

I re-ran the KOEO and these are the results;
111
176
542

I ran KOER 4 times to make sure I had it right;
538
536
521

The O2 sensors were recently replaced according to the former owner, I will see if i can find the receipt in the pile of papers he gave me.

This site is very descriptive as to the sequnce of the light flashes.

http://www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html

The first single flash is the dump of the fast codes to a code reader and should be ignored. The hard faults then displayed a "111" which was repeated. This indicates no faults found during the KOEO test.

There is then a 6 second pause and another single, separator flash, then another 6 second pause before the memory codes are displayed.

As Jason figured out, your memory codes were "176" and "542" which then repeated. The 542 is usually stored if the engine has stalled while the ignition was ON. This should not be a problem. The 176 shows that the front bank oxygen sensor is not switching and is most likely non-functional. This would probably be a good time to replace both sensors and increase your engine's responsiveness and fuel efficiency. I recommend the Bosch 13942 from AutoZone or AutoZone.com for $33.99. They are not too tough to get to on the MTX so you are lucky.

I ran my codes too today and both of my O2's are running rich and I also have that 542 code. I had both of my O2's replaced with OEM Ford ones 4 months ago. The right O2 failed 2 months ago and I didn't get a chance to replace it and the other one went recently. I am going to have the replaced when I get all my suspension mods put on.

The codes during your KOER was because you didn't cycle the power steering and brake during the test and also you didn't goose the hthrottle during the test.
So my opin satys with the O2sensor also backed by SDPATT.
