Friend of mine has a 97 Silver Frost, 124k on original trans and unwelded cams. Its stock except for he removed the 3rd cat and mufflers and is running straight pipes. Sounds amazing. Anyway, I was looking at his engine and I said "looks like you haven't Porterized it yet eh?" He goes "what?" So he actually tried doing it himself after looking up the procedure on V8SHO.com but he couldn't get everything to line up. So today he brought it by my place and I helped him out. It was pretty hard to line everything up but, in the end, we did it. The elbow-to-rubber coupler connection was probably the hardest part, everytime we tried to tighten the clamp it would pop out. We finally got it to stay, though, after a lot of hard work. I'm not sure if the elbow is pointing the right direction, though, cause its pointing kind of right at the fender instead of forward, which I thought was probably the way its supposed to be. We couldnt get everything to line up with the elbow pointed forward, though. Anyone else have this problem? Car definitely feels like it picked up a few ponies, though, especially in the low end. He was able to bark the tires pretty good from a stop and he said that it didnt used to do that before the procedure. Took it on a couple 100+ runs just for fun, such a nice, smooth car. Id love to get a *3 one day, but I couldn't give up my 92 for one. Can't live without a 5spd :D Anyway, just thought Id share my experiences with all you guys!

Its a procedure for removing the restrictive "saxacone" intake assembly on a V8SHO and replacing it with a 3" 45 degree tube coupled to the airbox via rubber coupler hose. Kinda like taking out the silencer box on the V6 SHO only you replace it with something :D

The procedure, with some photos, for doing this can be found over at V8SHO.com. I found, when doing mine, that the elbow was simply the wrong way to go. It forces everything to a very bad alignment. I ended up using just a 3" diameter rubber rad hose section, obtained at a truck supply shop, and with a bit of cutting to make everything fit, having it go straight from the air box to the cut out to the inner wheel well. As a result, it is all one piece, has no internal bends and such to mess with the air flow, and does not require you to move around the air box at all.

That's a great idea. I found the same problem with the PVC EL so it was ditched in favor of 3" DRYER vent tubing which is semi flexible and worked in the fender well like a dream. Luke, is that my SF your talkin about?? Thought it was sold??? 'Sup with it?

Yeah, its not SOLD yet, per se. The kid(Kevin is his name) has a friend who said he'd be willing to give Kev 6500 for his SHO so Kev said, ok. But now the kid said he can only get 5400 bucks together for the SHO. After talking to me, Kev decided thats still a good price for the SHO and so he said he's going to tell the kid that he'll take the 5400 if the kid still wants it. Kevin has his eye on either my buddy Nicks 95 MTX or this one bronzish/orange 92 MTX thats on Ebay for $2900. He wants the rest of the money for any potential maintenance he'll have to do once he gets a Gen 2(and he will have to do some, damn neglected Gen 2s!)
