Hello,
I just replaced the clutch im my 1992 MTX. I replaced clutch, and fork. I have it all back together. For some reason reverse will not go in. Is there somthing that needs to be adjusted. Can some one please help me so i do not have to take it to a shop? Thankyou

When you try to put it in reverse does it grind?

I replaced the clutch on my T-bird Turbocoupe and afterward it would just grind when attempting to put it in reverse, I would have to shut the motor off put it in reverse and then restart, in order to back up.

I was told by a mechanic friend to put it in 2nd or 3rd gear and rev the motor and slip the clutch real good several times, allowing a minute for the clutch to cool off between each attempt. And it worked, it still ground more than normal for a while but after I put about a thousand on the new clutch, it went into reverse smoothly.

Hope that helps

these cars have no reverse gear synco, thats why it grinds. Put it into any forward gear and then go right over to reverse and youre good.

hmm

I have tried putting it in forward gears then reverse. Still no luck. It does not even as much grind. Its like reverse is not even there. Could i have messed somthing up putting in the clutch? I have also noticed the clutch pedal feels softer than it ever has. To soft almost. Anyone have any ideas? is there some sort of adjustment i must make?

did you manually adjust the clutch pedal by pulling up on the pedal itself? ...the clutch may not be totally disenguaging.
