ok i already have upgraded speakers and a HU but i dont have a sub of any type. ive been shooping around and read that 10" is better for enjoying the sound vs just being loud; thus i have put together the following.

Woofers 2x:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-pkBwy9mJoMo/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=108K1027W&s=0&cc=01

Amp:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-pkBwy9mJoMo/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=120&I=489AP2000

Box:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-pkBwy9mJoMo/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=178750&I=044QB2104

What do you guys think of that? and also because the box im looking at has a plastic front, where else should i mount the amp?

Here's the modern version of my amp:
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-LXnzjSJAr0h/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=100&I=500MRPM450&search=alpine+mrp

I like Alpine amps and have had great luck with my MRP-M350 amp. This one is the same but with more RMS rating... Mono channel, Class D amp too. Mine pushes two 15" Rockford Punch DVC subs.

Infinity speakers are a good speaker, especially the Kappa series. It's all personal preference in the long run.

And usually a bandpass box just makes alot of noise... try a sealed box with the same rating as what your subs will require. First off what kind of music do you listen to mostly?

Others will chime in and give you more suggestions. So hopefully I helped out a little :thumb: I need to get off this darn site... I have so much to do this week... :)

personaly i would go with a name brand AMP. im running 2 12" subs in the back of my car with a simple 240 watt Pioneer. And my subs are hitting harder than most others with 800 watt amps that are No Namers. Im just saying go with somthing that is known. Pioneer, JL, Alpine, Total, Kicker, Rockford. one of those.

There is nothing wrong with using a Profile amp. Crutchfield lists the actual power ratings for it, and he should have no trouble seeing 320x2 out of it. Simply because the outside says "2000 watts" and it doesn't produce that, is no reason to discount it as a decent performer for the budget-conscious.

As for the box, you will contradict your goal of sound quality by using a bandpass. All that box is good for is boom... a nice flat response somewhere around 40-50 Hz. What you will want for those woofers will probably be a sealed enclosure.

If you still think you need a "name brand" amp, then just try to match the RMS ratings within the subs limits, make sure you know what you're doing when you wire the amp, and follow the gain setting tutorial on caraudio.com.

Good luck and try to post some pics!

Stay away from Sony Xplod car audio. Please!

I couldn't agree more.

There's no reason why you can't run two subs off a mono-block amp. It's all in the wiring configuration, whether or not the amp's 2 ohm stable, or what have you.

Now, since I'm assuming you're going on a rather tight budget, I'm gonna recommend this amp for those subs, as it's easier to **** a sub by underpowering rather than overpowering it...

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-6OzcgXZZ4b2/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=120&I=113KAC9102

depending on the type of music you listen to, I'd recommend these boxes...

for country, rap/R&B etc...
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-6OzcgXZZ4b2/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=178650&I=044H1010DS

this if you're in to rock and heavy metal....
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-6OzcgXZZ4b2/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=178650&I=700SQ6510D

The subs are fine...but being infiniti's, they like to be pushed, or so I've found. you wanna power the **** out of em.

Avoid bandpass enclosures if you're looking for sound quality. They're good for loud, booming bass.....but that's about it.

a pair of these'd sound a helluva lot better than those Infiniti's, by the way......just my $.02

oh yeah....here ya go...a lil piece that I found for ya....

No

X 2 , amp , go with phoenix gold or rockford fosgate.

For Maximizing the kit , you need a custom made box with EXACLY the dimensions of cubic air the sub needs. (depends on brands)

ditch the bandpass box. for the best versatility for all types of music go for the ported box. the way q logic builds their boxes - they have custom adjustable ports/plugs - so you can change it from a ported box to a sealed box whenever you feel like. good thing about those boxes is that you can use them for life. if you wanna change the subs or move it to another car it's stupid easy. i think everything else you have in mind is fine.

also, if you do decide to change up your brands, don't listen to everything bad you hear about sony. some are bitter because sony gives you the same "name brand" stuff for cheap. as long as you take care of your stuff, you should have no problem (and you save some $ too). if you do decide to order from crutchfield, pm me for a discount code.

go for type 2. depends how much trunk space you wanna take up - 3 is a huge box. i have 2 square kickers in a type 2. i'd get a rockford fosgate amp, expensive but worth it. if cheaper go for an alpine, they have the greatest versatility in tuning the sound.

I am pushing 2 Infiniti Perfect 10 VQs with my Kenwood amp and they sound great.
I have to go CerberuS and say that I had a RF amp in my old car (95 GL) and I like it a lot more than the Kenwood I am running now.
Te remote bass **** gave me the ability to make the subs fit any music.
Also, I attached the **** right under the arm rest, about half way down. Never got in the way and was in the perfect spot for access and convenience.

Oh and the Infiniti require .6 cubic feet each, so you can build a pretty small box and they will still sound good. - my old setup in on my sounddomain page

Here's a pic of my current set-up. Doubtful you'll spend as much as I did with this (the amp alone was $800), but my single 12" sub and that amp (factory rated at 500 watts RMS....max output measured at 1750) sounds AWESOME for rock and metal. Great thing is, with a couple of adjustments at the deck, I hit 139.9db at a sound off....good enough for 2nd place in my class.

That Boston sub you're looking at is quite bad ass in a ported enclosure. I almost bought one over my Premier, but I got a decent deal at the car audio shop I go to on my sub. After hearing one of those 12"s in my box (about 1.25 cubic foot, vented at 38hz), I was SOLD...until he sold me my premier at a highly discounted price.

When I buy another sub, I'm buying a Boston...but as long as my amp puts out power, I'll not give up on the RF bd line of amps.

Profile isnt that bad of a brand, like mentioned before.

But for the money, you can get just as good equipment if not better, it just depends on if you're set on buying from crutchfield or not.

Honestly, Ebay is the way to go if you're gonna buy car audio stuff.

For the $270 you'll pay for that profile amp, you can get an equivalent if not more powerful amp by Memphis, Diamond,Phoenix Gold, Alpine and other brands.

For under $180 you can get plenty of 10inch subs, like Alpine type R (which is a damn good sub for the money, even if some dont admit it), the infinity Perfect, resonant engineering SE, or for around $250 you can get the W6V2 in 10".
As far as the box goes, if you're into the flashy looks, well thats your preference, but you should be able to get a nicely built sealed box made to your subs specs for under $100.

THere are plenty of choices to go with, it just comes to personal preference, Im just saying, before you go out and buy, check around for prices.

I tend to like JBL's equipment, perhaps something like this?
http://www.cardomain.com/item/JBLGTO6011II
Similiar to the kenwood Tim found, just rated slightly lower, and 50 dollars cheaper. I've had a mono JBL amp in my car for about 2 years now, rated at 230(ish) watts RMS at 4ohms, powering a single polk 8in in a sealed box (which I might add, has also withstood the time very well), and it still works flawlessly.

Make sure you run a nice thick power cable from your battery.

i will second that ebay is definitely the cheapest place to get the gear. alot of places that sell on ebay are there to liquidate overstock so you get a great deal. just make sure you are buying the newest stuff (if you care about that) cause most of it is last year's models. also, try not to buy anything in-dash video related cause most of them are scams.

Keep in mind that a warranty will not apply on eBay most of the time. If you are planning to drive this stuff hard, you may want to think about warranted equipment. Just food for thought.

Very true. most people don't realize that this is a limiting factor in how your amp performs. It'd be like running a supercharger at 16psi with a stock MAF. won't work too well.

General rule of thumb is this...

below 500 watts peak output: 8 guage or thicker
500-1000 watts peak output: 4 guage
1000-1500 watts peak output: 2 guage or thicker
1500+ watts peak output: 0/1 guage

I'm runnin 4 guage to mine, and it's workin just fine. my limiting factor right now is pre-amp voltage from my deck. Measly .7 volts or something like that. Over the winter, I'm getting a deck with a 4 volt pre-amp...if not higher, so I can turn the damn gain down on the sub and maybe hit 140db next spring.

but I think I'm getting ahead of myself here.

Another thing to rememeber about power and ground cables......ground cable MUST (non-negotiable) be as big as your power cable and no more than 3 feet long, preferably no more than 18" long. If you plan to mount your amp close to where the factory amp(s) are mounted, you can use one of the screws holding the factory amp in place as a ground. I did that with mine and it works splendidly.
