I just got my aluminum subframe bushings from midwestsho and started to put them on. I got the front ones on no problem. The rears though is another story. The rear has this dome shaped rubber bushing that looks welded to the subframe. On the shotimes website, it says all 4 should be like the front, this isnt the case. It would not come off no matter what I did. What do I do? was anyone elses like this?? please help.

Ps. I could notice the difference with just the fronts on :thumb:

I had problems with the rear ones too. It was so long ago I can't remember what I did. For some reason I think I had to unbolt 4 nuts on the top of the "dome". Could be confusing it with something else though. Is this on a gen 1?

his sig says '94.

My '89 had rings that were bolted on with 4 studs and nuts on all 4 corners of the subframe. I cannot imaging how fun those COULD have been if I owned a rust bucket. They were hard enough to get removed due to space

my '93 was HORRIBLE. the fronts (which have the 4 little bolts) were rusted, the bolts are actually on a metal ring inside the rubber of the bushing, and the rubber had worn so much that it was just the ring that was left and it was rusted to the subframe, and what was left of the rubber was moving around whenever I'd turn :nut:

the rears on mine were pretty new, (I'm guessing that ancient rear SFB recall) so they weren't too bad. they are different then the fronts in later years, (gen3 RSFBs are an upgrade to put on all 4 corners of older models) I'll go get a pic of the gen2 rear SFB apart. give me 2 min!

Remove the nuts (or snap the nuts / studs off) and the bushing will drop out. You may need to dremel the ID of the hole in the subframe to make enough clearance room to fit the bushings. Be very careful, when the nuts go, your hand will likely be driven into a sharp part of the car if you're not careful. If the stud spins as you're trying to loosen the nuts, clamp with something like a large pair of vise-grips.

Funny you could notice that much of a difference on just the fronts, since the rears are closest to the "squish" of the steering rack.

Good luck.

Mine came out just fine...would they be harder to remove if they were fuxxored? I didn't really have the time/budget to replace them, but I would like to. They came out so easy I wouldn't hesitate to do it again...
