there are some specialty tools you will need, clutch spring compressor, lip seal protector, and valve body alighnment pins, other than that i used just regular tools. it all depends on your mechanical abillity and confidence, i found it a easy job. some say it is very hard, i dunno, mabey what i define as easy is hard for others. i never did a trany before this one, all i did was buy the manual off ebay for the axode and studied it well and followed page by page, if you can read, turn a wrench you should be able to do this.

thats great advice i believe i am very handy mechanically and could do good at the job....just gotta find somewhere to work on it besides on my street (which is a city street) this may sound rediculous but would i be able to drop my tranny, bring it in my basement and complete the job with the necessary tools? would it even be possible to drop the tranny on a city street?

I've dropped the motor and tranny out in my drive way. Wouldn't recommend it on the street through unless it is a little traveled one and the local laws don't prohibit it.

You need some jack stands, a couple of jacks, an engine crane (to lift the body over the subframe/motor/tranny) and a heavy duty dolly to drop the subframe/motor/tranny onto.

The tranny itself weighs about 200 lbs and is kind of difficult to picukp due to the way the weight is distributed in it. Not to mention the mess from the fluid.
