I am having problems with my POS SHO again..
It's a 93 ATX
It's been in service about 6 times for a same problem, and still never fixed.:hpoop:
When the car sits at the light, for about a minute, it just dies..(lights on the cluster come on)..It won't start right away..Usually starts back 10 minutes later..It also done it while it was parked for a minute..It does it about once a day and Check engine light does not come on.
Car has worked alot better before it ever got to the service first time..My dad doesn't know what to do with the car anymore because no one knows how to work on it..
Did anyone have any problems like this??:hail:

Crank sensor. Its a pretty easy job. A beginner could definitely do the job in a day.

It involves pulling the timing cover and belt, end tank on intake, crank pulley, and possibly the water pump pulley for added room.

When you start the car, does the tach move to around 400 rpms? If so, then your cam sensor is good.

Usually cam sensor won't prevent starting, you may just need to crank longer. However it sounds like the Crankshaft Position sensor is going bad.

Before you get into replacing anything, verify that it is the CPS (Crank Position Sensor) by running the codes. Also, the next time the car quits, check the fuel pressure.

The CPS failure does not always set a code. One of the best way to check is to see if you have spark.

I would also recommend a new timing belt and water pump. Then, you can rest assured that the front of the engine is set for the next 60,000 miles.

It's been replaced recently..:nut:
Nothing on this car is older than 2 years.
All the parts have been replaced 2-4 times in 7 years.:oogle:

Last 2 times it needed the cam sensor, it wouldn't start.

I'd have to check..
First few times it was screwed in service, I had to stop driving the car..
So I don't know what it's doing or what not..All I know everytime someone tried to drive it, it dies and won't start

A bad crank sensor will sometimes enable the car to be started but once it heats up, it will die. This is usually caused by a leaky water pump that drips onto th crank sensor and prevents the signal from reaching the receiving end of the sensor itself. Pull your timing cover off, start the car and let it run. Check to see if any coolant is leaking from the water pump. That could be a quick and easy test to see if it is the cause of the bad sensor.
