I'm new to the world of sho and man has it been rough have only owned the car 6 months and its been running 2 of those so i'm thinking someone skipped out on some of their duties but i love the car and want to work the kinks out. This time as i was driving the car lost power and died
and it came back but it was missing terrible. So i took it to the muffler shop first and they said it wasn't the cats.... so we put it on the machine and found out that clynder 1 and 3 were getting no fire at all. we couldn't find any coil packs and finally found one through advandtage auto but we put it on and hey still no take... changed the wire and spark plugs... since we were kinda stuff we got triple plat spark plugs from napa so they are not ac delcos or motorcraft. the wires are also aftermarkert but still we got the miss. now 1 can oil in the wells do this also what else my possible cause the car to mis-fire like this... i took it to a shop and its hard finding someone who wants to or can work on this car. He eventually gave up and so i'm trying to find out some ideas please help.

I would recommend pulling your Engine Fault codes from the computer. You can go to http://www.midwestsho.com/ for an excellent procedure on how to read codes. Your EEC is trying to tell you what is wrong, all you need to do is listen to it.

I am going to move this to Engine and Drivetrain Maintanence & Troubleshooting, as it seems like this is not an emergency issue.

sorry about the double post but i thought i should say that if you drive it some times there is no power then some times it picks up slowly and others it will grab like normal and GO!

It sure sounds like oil in the plug wells. Did the conditions improve after you replace the plugs and wires?

Not really it did seem to work a little bit with the plugs change then it when back to mis-firing rather quick and didn't change with the new wires or coil pack.

I'd still guess the spark plugs, including possible oil contamination, and/or the spark plug wires, including poor quality or possible wrong routing to the coil pack. Chris referenced this excellent spark plug wiring diagram in an earlier post. Double check your setup:

Properly gapped Motorcraft Double Platinum plugs are strongly recommended. Motorcraft wires are also a good choice, although there are some quality alternatives available, I am told.

Ok Update: I was told coil pack 1 and 3 were not getting any fire so after changing coil packs for what we could find as far as after market around here it was still doing the same thing. Would this go back to the DIS or do i need to find an orginal ford sho coil pack to go with it. I have a 95 white show 3.2l automatic. if not the coil pack can you recommend a good dis system to replace the old one?

Hopefully you took the oil out of the wells BEFORE you removed the spark plugs?

What about the CID sensor?

The SHO is a finicky car. Improper plugs/wires will make it run poorly.

Ok i'm going to try to get to work on this within the week. OK here's the problem overview again. car is misfiring badly, when put on the computer it shows coil 1 and 3 of the pack wasn't firing what process should i go like first thing to check then second we've tried a couple packs not sure if they were the ones we should use but advanced said it was though the connectors look a slight diffrent. can a 3.0l coil pack work on a 3.2l please help if you can.
