a door window motor?? I have a big but little question …can anyone answer a question about the mainspring? inside a door window motor?? I went into bob’s back door and the motor gear was rusted stuck, the motor was totally gunked…I took it apart, cleaned it greased it, put it back together and now it spins….What a deal…anyway, the question is,,,is the mainspring inside the motor supposed to be in the lose position when the window is up…or in the lose position when the window is down…I of course wasn’t paying attention to that when I took it apart cause its the first time I’ve ever done it and was learning as I progressed through the disassembly… Ever done that stuff before???

If you want a 2nd chance on figuring it out, the window motor on the diagonal point in the car is the exact same (in every way) motor. If you are working on the left rear motor, the right front motor is identical, and will interchange without a problem.

I can not visualize your spring issue, but the motor does not know what your window is doing. It stops at the top and the bottom because it maxes out, not because it has counted the revs from a center position.

I think he's talking about the spring on the window regulator. It's never supposed to be "loose". I recall it has quite a bit of tension too.

Thank you guys so much...I took apart the other side and paid more attention and then learned the answer to my question yesterday cause I was impatient and the rain had stopped long enough to be outside working.. That thread is perfect. I actually made one too thinking I would share info, but of course, it was already done. thanks again,
