HELP no brake lights and stuck in park

hi i have a 94 atx the button on the shifter wont go in to get it out of park and have no brake lights either..sent it to a transmission shop and they said its an electrial problem..i have no idea where to start..if you keep messing with it might be 20 minutes to hours it will come out of park but once back in park you are screwed.....need to get this fixeda.s.a.p. this is my daily driver..
transmission shop replaced the cable from the shifter to tranny so thats good..so where do i go from here..please help anybody..need all the help i can gt.. thanks alot

Check your brake light switch ( under dash..activated by brake pedal/arm )...should be the prob..

i fixed it thanks alot crusie control was bad unplugged it put new fuse and boo switch in all good to go now thanks..

I have no idea if this will help, but i have big feet and on my 89 every once and a while i woudl step on a wire when hitting the brakes, and the wires would snap, causeing all break lights to shut off..... That was just my problem sorry i offer no further help GL :thumb:

I have a 93 atx..have had the same problem took it to the transmission shop to have the tranny looked at they replaced that cable without even asking me wasnt the problem.Took it to ford they said they think its a bad wire. im hoping its the switch or a fuse..for now keepin her in neutral

This is a common problem on the ATX's and can almost always be attributed to the cruise switch mentioned above. To verify if this is your problem, pull out the harness from the cruise control module and check to see if it's melted and/ or wet.

Ya start simple. Check the fuse, the brake light switch. Lots of ppl like to start with the biggest and hardest stuff first.

More than likely, its simple. :thumb:
