HELP: New unit installed and ....

Just got back from getting a new alpine head unit installed to replace my old busted one in my '90. Damn dose it bump and sound great with no distortion. All I have to say is I think they should have kept the 2 subs in the gen 2s because this thing bumps wayyy more than my '93 could ever dream of. But anyway heres the delema: The thing starts to crackle in various speakers after about 4 minutes of running. It was first in the left front, now its in the rears, and its driving me crazy. The installer said that he thinks the jbl amp for the main speakers is on its way out. The other problem I have is when I accelerate I can hear a whine in the front left speaker. Any ideas guys? Should I go ahead and post a WTB for an amp? Also can I pull this amp from a Gen 2 or is a 1991 my best bet for least age. As always thanks sooo much.

Any ideas people? If the amp is the same for all years can I swap the amp out of my '93 for testing purposes?

As long as the plugs are the same you can swap out the amps. As for the speaker. If you are always getting the "humm" from it, it could be a bad voice coil and it needs to be replaced.

The whine could be bad grounding for the amp or a power wire near a speaker wire. If your jbl amp goes out you could use the headunits internal amp.

Is it true that the premium wiring harness came with the harness to by pass the amp? If this is true, where does it hook up, and will I be able to keep using my sub-woofer amp?

You can by-pass the main amp but you will loose the Subwoofer amp (i think).

usually the problem with the wiring, is that you have too many wires around eachother, so its like puting a mic to an amp...you get the whine, i had subs in my car, and when i accelerated the whine got louder, but i just re-organized everything, and it was just fine...
