Hey guys... i got my intake all powdercoated and went to install it and
i got it all set down in place... tightened up all the bolts...

but theres still a big problem...

when i start it it sounds as if it has no headers on... idles up a bit then dies...
sounds like a bit of compression kick out at the end... like a wheeze...

any ideas what i missed or did wrong?

Check all of your vacuum lines going to the intake, and also make sure that the intake is sitting all the way down on hte heads.

Keep all the hose clamps loose until the intake is torques down (make sure you torque it evenly). Then connect the hose clamps. Make sure the bolts holding the crossover tube to the tanks have NO PAINT on them. They are used for a ground path. THer is also the one bolt up by the throttle body that should be clean and have a good ground connection. Make sure all the vaccum hoses are connected and nothing got pinched.

Last, after you get it running, come back and recheck the torque on the intake to head bolts a couple times over the next few months. Powder coating is sort of like plastic paint. It is pretty thick, and as it heats up it will squish out under the bolt heads. After many heat cycles, you may have no torque on the intake bolts. Once you have squished the majority of the powdercoat out at the bolt holes, the torque should stabilize.

Good luck and post pics of it to show us your fine work :thumb:

gresham, or
mine was the same way, broke right at the ******. I ended up making block off plates and I am in the process of doing up a circuit to fool the pcm into thinking the egr is still working.
