I have a 91 mtx and im having some problems. My car had always made somewhat of a whisteling sound in second gear but on my way home today i could not get it into first or second unless i realy forced it, and third and fourth now also make that same noise. Also when driving in gear or even gliding in nuetral my car makes a major ticking/ grinding noise. And now that it is parked in my driveway every time i start it it dies instantly... i figured it has something to do with my transmission or my clutch. If it is one of he two i also have a 93 mtx parts car and i was wondering if what i would need was compatible... Please let me know if you have any help or advice.

Thanks, Josh

Did the trans leak at all? When is the last time you checked the fluid? Are there any smells? Does it shift fine when the car isnt running? Did the clutch slip at all or do you know how many miles are on it. May have some really worn pressure plate fingers or maybe some missing.(would explain the ticking and also depending on how bad it is it may not release the clutch fully causing hard shifting. Sounds kind of like when my trans went dry and fried a couple bearings though. And yes the parts from your 93 would be compatible. but if its the clutch you may as well get a new one.
