i ran codes on my 89' mtx and i got...
KOEO
-(HF)- 24-Intake air temperature(iat) or Vane Air temp (VAT)sensor ou of range

-(M)- 41-(R)system lean (M)system was lean for 15 seconds or more
66-Vane air flow(VAF) of mass air flow (MAF)signal low Transmission oil temp(TOT)signal low(possibly grounded)
91-(R,M) system running lean-fuel control
transmission ss1 circuit/solenoid problem-trans. control
--------------------------------------------------
KOER
-hf- 24 " "

I do have a problem that comes and goes (noticed mostly on hot starts) recognised by a rough and low idle and big loss of power(when driving)which i noticed a CE light come on. Also the problem does go away under no recognised reason, and when i take off i sometimes get a real bad rpm drop and what sounds like a "rod knocker gurgle". can somebody tell me if for one , do these codes have any relation and can i pass inspection like this.

Sounds like maf problem. Try cleaning it and the Intake temp. sensor. with some carb cleaner or electronics cleaner. Clean the MAF filaments that hang down into the airway but don't touch them as they are thin and brittle.

Heh! What a coincidence!

After my 89 sat on jackstands for over a week, I also got a CEL the first two times I drove it.

Guess the codes - a 24 and a 91!

Drove it several times today and no CEL..... and I hadn't reset them. I guess I'll see.

Both oxygen sensors are detecting a lean condition so there probably IS a lean condition. It would be due to the combined effect of the air chrage temperature (ACT) sensor and the mass air flow (MAF) sensor errors that you found. The fact that they were coincident means that there could be a problem with the wiring harness to the ACT and sensors. Do the wiggle test with the engine running and have someone watch the CE light while you listen to the engine. The ACT can be damaged by contact within the air filter box. The MAF signal was low but not out of range. Check the filaments for baked on debris.

aright im not exactly sure which are the maf and act(sorry)and where i would hook the jump to. what i did was sprayed the connector to the air filter with some elec. parts cleaner and kinda took this guys advice and sprayed the little (orange) senser in the box and cleaned the opening to the intake itself(metal opening with the circeflap). i ran the car for about five minutes and ran codes. koeo hf-24,m-41,66,91(i ddnt erase the memory since last test) koer-25 ..

The MAF is the metal tube with the electronics on top that goes into the top of the airbox and has tubing to the throttle body.
The Air charge sensor is screwed into the bottom of the airbox under the air filter.
