HELP! Car reeks like gas and sputters!!!

Lately I have been having a slight hesitation when I give it gas from a stop. It only does it when it's Hot, or I have been running it all day... BUT TODAY HA!!!! I had to drive far today and the slight hesitation started up, then it built up to the point that it's sputtering like a Subaru and it reeks like gas!!! The put put put coming out of the exhaust reeks like gas too... There is also a slight knock when I start from a stop... I'm getting absolutely NO codes, and I only have 48k miles!!!!..... HELP frown

Hehe, I had some of that going on. Bad fuel pump was the culprit.

I think the fuel pump is your problem. What year is your car? If you aren't doing anything this Sun. i am having a few guys from the forum down to my house if you want to stop by.

Yeah, a failing fuel pump can cause misfires and misfires = unburnt gas out the exhaust.

SHIT!!! Than thats what it is, bacause Rick just descrived another one of my problems...... I guess I need a Mustang Fuel Pump!!!

A plug wire loose will also cause this. People just make assumptions. You need to check fuel pressure. and is the pump noisy?

Chris, stop by on Sunday(but call first, I might be at the car show). I have a fuel pressure test gauge at my house. And I have a good place to get you a pump.
