okay brakes are probably the only part of the car that i can' t tell exactly what is wrong just by lookin at it or listening. *** here is my question, i pulled off all 4 wheels because when ive been driving for a while 3 brakes work but the rear right brake is dragging and producing some serious heat when i touch the rim and once on a long ride it was smoking pretty damn good. now i havnt been able to fix it until now because ive b een recovering from shoulder surgery. i need to fix this asap because this time tomorrow i will be on my way to vt. now the front 2 are perfect and the rear left works great 4 braking but the ebrake does not work on it thats the only thing which i dont mind because i rarely use it and it spins nice n free until it locks up when i apply the brakes in the air. the right rear brake will roll slightly easier when i spin t backwards but forwards i can barely budge it and this is holding onto the wheel. i am not sure if it is the parking brake cable or what but i was hoping you guys would tell me so i can repair it so i dont have a glowing rotor for the 2hr ride to vt.thanks in advance guys.

I'm not sure if your having the same problem, but a while back my brother said one of his rear calipers was sticking and also making the wheel warm. I believe he fixed the problem with a new rubber hose.(The one that goes from the caliper to the hard brake line.) This might solve your problem.

thats the odd thing about a year ago i swapped in new calipers, pads, and rotors as well as new hard lines and the back wuldnt bleed so i swapped out th erubber hoses and found ot they rusted through at the clip and sealed it off so i changed them out and it bled fine...this is the first problem ive had thus far and need to fix it asap.

Get under the car and look at the spring loaded bracket deal that holds the end of the e-brake cable. Look at each rear and see if they are at different positions, while making sure you have the e-brake released. If that side is binded up, it will be lower than the side not dragging. And if so, you can get a good sized flat head screw driver and pry the bracket up to release the brake. You'll have to do this everytime if you apply the e-brake, until you replace the cable.

If you continue to drive with the brakes dragging, you will heat up the brake system and burn the fluid, causing your brakes to fail.

I don't recall which cable I replaced, but it wasn't all that difficult.

I was having the same problem and assumed a sticky caliper. The original owner of my car replaced both rear calipers 2 years ago but I assumed one failed. I'll have to check into that cable, it will probably save me alot of frustration down the road. Right now I have the rear suspension completely off the car for a rebuild/upgrade and planned on replacing the calipers anyway. If it still sticks after the new calipers I'll know what to look into. Thanks!

odds are pretty good that one or both of your slider pins is frozen into the bracket. Most of the time when you put on new calipers, they dont come with the bracket, just the caliper. You should be able to get the pins out, then clean up the slider holes really well and then regrease them.
