OMG, he's changing the clutch? Oh yeah, I'm illeterate. :bonk:

Oh, wait a minute. I'm not illeterate... and you don't need to drop the y-pipe to remove an MTX transmission, whether you're dropping the subframe or going through the wheelwell. This is coming from a guy who has R&R's 3 transmissions (twice in my car, once in another) without dropping the Y-pipe.

How do you get the subframe out without dropping the Y-Pipe? I suppose it could _possibly_ be done with a LOT of effort, but why? Dropping the Y-Pipe is not very hard...

Just slide it over the back of the y-pipe. It's not as hard as it seems.

I'll tell you what though... it's a **** of a lot easier than dealing with 13 year old manifold studs when they break and you have to cut the rest of the stud off, and then drill and tap new holes.

*edit*
In retrospect, I've always done work on my SHO on a lift. Doing this on the ground, I could see how that would be difficult if the car weren't high enough off of the ground. But it'd still be doable.

Dropping the Y pipe the 2nd time is not going to be hard. The first time you have to go through 15 years of corroded bolt! Next time I have have NEW bolts which will make it a whole lot easier....If there is a next time.
