Just an idea, but have you had the plug wires off? I know the firing order in most shop manuals is wrong, just something to check.

Well I'll be damned I'm not the only one having the 3.2 single belt setup with the X2J ecu/harness

You did swap the harness too right? Cause you need to.

Anyway doublecheck the firering order , forget the books.

just got the battery cable thats long enough to reach the trunk but good idea
