heater core?

tonight i noticed my windshield litely fogging and steaming, then i turn on the heat and the whole windshield fogs up and leaves a ligth film kinda hard to see through.i take it my heater core is shot? it was also smoking litely. will this still be ok to drive or do i need to have it fixed before further damage?i appreciate any info. thanks

At the minimum, if you plan on keep driving it I would recommend bypassing it to keep coolant out of the passenger compartment until you can get it replaced. Fortunately you probably don't need the heat as regularly down there as we do up here... :bonk:

fyi had mined done in my 89 changed core well its about 700 for them to do it good luck bypass is best for now

i did my own on my 91 sho, it took me a good week tho, but the money that i saved was well worth it, the heater core is very cheap compared to other sho parts, i say bypass it untill you have the time or the money to do it, you just make a loop with two hose clamps on the motor side, good luck!

Does it smell like anti freeze inside the car? If you're lucky its just the drain plugged. Thereis a drain hole for the heater/ac chamber, its near the bottom of the firewall sort of below the lower of the two ac lines. If you're not so lucky the heater core is leaking,and as others have stated, it ain't cheap or easy.
