I am having an issue where I have heat on the drivers side and A/C on the passenger side. I removed the blend door actuator motor and cycled it manually with no effect. Upon further investigation I realized that the A/C on the passenger side runs regardless of the temperature setting. I turn the heat on high and start the car from cold and the radiator fan comes on immediately and the A/C lines are ice cold. There is decent heat on the drivers side but passenger side is cold. The only time the A/C doesn't run is when I turn the climate control to "off". What would cause the A/C run when the heat(s) are set to 90. I unhooked the battery for a few minutes to no avail.

sounds like a control problem, but I expect there should be some codes, if you were to get them read.

Are you using the "Auto" setting but just setting the temperature high? If so, the A/C will come on in Auto, even if the request is for warm air. It's not until the outside air temp gets below something like 35 degrees that the A/C will not turning on. There are a few selections in the manual modes that will no request A/C.

As for the lack of heat on the passenger side, that's probably due to a bad blend door servo for the passenger side. The servo on my wife's 2010 MKT failed last year about this time and so has the one for my 2011 SHO. The servo is about $22 from the dealer and quite a bit easier to replace on the SHO than on the MKT. It's not easy, but possible. You need to remove the glove box to get to it. The service manual says to remove the entire instrument cluster but that's not required if you have a decent selection of tools.

An observation- the servo is actually less expensive from the dealer than it was from O'Reilly Auto Parts as a Dorman part. Also, the same part is used on the driver's side and the one on the driver's side is relatively simple to get to. If you want to confirm the controls are commanding the servo correctly you can remove the driver's servo, unplug the passenger servo, plug the driver's one in to the passenger wiring, then adjust the temperature setting and confirm the servo moves corresponding to the set point changes.

Hey thanks Rod. I am going to look at it again tomorrow. I think the blend door I was working on was the recirculation/ fresh air door.

Not sure it will help but I have access to the true Ford Taurus Service manual for 2013...as far as taking stuff apart it should be similar. If you need any info hit me up.

My SHO has been in the shop for the last two days. The problem with the climate control is a control module. About $400 parts and labor with the part not due until Friday.

The control module fixed the problem. I think if you are getting heat on one side and ambient on the other then the blend door would be suspect. If you are getting heat on one side and cold air on the other then something else is going on. Before the fix the A/C wouldn't turn off (unless climate control was off). After the fix, the A/C would only come on (in heating mode) with defrost.

Hi all, am having this same issue with my 2011 SHO. I am quite confident the AC is blowing on passenger while heat is on for the driver side. Was there a part number for the control module and is this something I can get at w/o ripping the dash apart? Am not anxious to part with $400 so hoping this is a DYI project. Let me know any more details.

Thanks!

An update, I spent a bit more time looking at this and determined the AC was NOT actually working. Wondering now if anyone has changed out their blend actuator?
