headlight assembly?

rock chips & cracked lens, plan on replacing both units, question? all sites list two different numbers for assembly based on date [?] where do I find correct info, VIN? door jamb? headlight assembly? whats the difference in the two? 98SHO thanks.

The earlier asemblies had different adjustments and I thinkt he latter ones didn't have the level in them. Plan on paying about 200 each from Ford. I bought my new pair from a place called auto body parts online ( paid about half what Ford wanted each ) but I wouldn't trust them, one of my headlights began to yellow just 3 months after buying them and the company pretty much told me to stuff it even though they display a big "Guarantee" about their parts.

They are very easy to preplace however, it takes about 5 minutes to swap them out.

When I bought mine I only saw numbers depicting year, like '96-'97 and then '98-'99

The part number is on the headlight assembly however.

I got some here last year...

You can also get new headlights made by Toyota's OEM manufacturer currently for $75 here http://store.yahoo.com/dpstore/taurus2.html Be sure to specify that you do NOT want Eagle Eye branded assemblies.

The major difference between the two is the early ones are silver on the inside of the lens and the later ones are black. IMHO the black ones look better.
