Im swithing the heads on my car for the extra set i have ported. I am planning on getting the XPZ cams. What will i need to do the change?

Im planning also on turboing ... will the cams be fit for a turbo? or will i have to change back to stock?

And who is willing to help doing the install (free food and drinks!)... heated garage! I live in Aurora, IL!

If you plan on going turbo, you should leave the stock cams. That way you can give me your heads and cams! :D

Seriously though, I do not know aht the XPZ cam sepcs are, but you will likely need adjustable cam gears to get the most out of cams in a FI setting (NA too for that matter). If they are = to a Stage I cam from SS, then I think you will see some modest gains. Really no need for them though. You could spend the money better elsewhere if you are designing a tubro system. As soon as I get cam/head work, then we will really see if it is worth the time+expense. I may have to eat my words.

I think the XPZ cam is closer to the shoshop stage 2 cams. I just want to make sure i take advantage of the porting.

The XPz is closer to what SHO Shop's advertised specs for the Stage II's were. The XP is comparable to what the actual stage II grinds were (far from SHO Shop's advertised numbers) with significant improvements in lobe to lobe consistency when compared with the SHO Shop parts.

With the turbo I would suggest using the XPs and getting your exhaust manifolds ported.

I've had my SS stage II cams for a couple of years, I did oversize valves, porting, and extrude honed runners. I love the power that I gained. The only thing I can tell you is to prelube the cams, set the valve clearance to spec's and get a chip or a tweecer rt. The larger cams are hard to get used to because of the differance in the power range but you will feel the differance and love it.

Mike if you read this I also need a set of your XPs.

BUMP!

So anybody willing to spend some time on my SHO with me doing the cam change? I already have the valve covers off. I will be taking the heads out soon. I guess it will be easier to do the cam change once the heads are out. Anybody near AURORA , ILLINIOIS please PM me.

thanks SHO fans!

I'm always good for getting in the way, drinking lots of your beer and eating more than my fair share of your food (which I'd be willing to cook up for you too). Other than that I have no tools or talent w/r/t the SHO heads or cams...

...so when do you want me to come by! lol
