my 89's turn signals quit working. replaced multifunction switch, which we thought would solve the problem. still no turn signals. no blown fuses. wipers work fine as do hazard flashers, as i mentioned before. please help...

if i remember right, there are two different flashers one for the turnsignals, then one for the hazards. you may need to replace the one.

the hazard flasher is made to handle the voltage for all 4 corners, & the one for the turn signals is made to handle voltage for just two corners, hope this all makes sense.

I'd say it is more likely that it is the multifunction switch (MFS). This is actually the turn signal stalk, and is fairly straight forward to replace.

Which is a good thing, because some cars go through them frequently, although they aren't terribly cheap. All Taurii and Sables used the same MFS, so finding them in a JY is pretty easy.

I've had one fail right straight from Ford, at a cost of over $200cdn. So, I maintain, make sure the MFS is functioning properly.

that sucks,, did they give you your money back? or did they just say "sucks to be you" & sent you on your way?
