...to their factory tape only JBL head unit?

I'd like CD again, and I only have tape right now, with the JBL system. I can't believe they didn't just include the CD player with the JBL system.

Anyway, can I add an aftermarket CD changer to my factory head unit? I really like the dash controls by the instrument panel...

Will any previous Ford Radio/CD dash unit (not the CD add on unit, just a radio/CD player) work in my SHO if wired in correctly, or will the JBL be messed up?

Or, am I stuck finding a boneyard slave Ford CD player? I'm OK with that, I'll have to do some searches for info on what I need to add it correctly as far as wiring harnesses, what cars I can get them out of, etc...

TIA

Audiovox makes a 10disc or a 6disc that you can use off of your stock deck.

you can usually have these installed for less than $300 including all parts and labor

You can get pretty much ANY aftermarket cd changer that has a built-in controller.

You wire the power and cable and then it has an RF modulator that you plug into your tape player's Antenna IN.

It basically broadcasts the cd's on a radio station which you tune on the radio.

Look around, there are a lot of options. :)

I use a portable player wired directly to the back of the stock head unit. This gives sound quality superior to the RF and cassette adapters. I followed the instructions on www.shotimes.com. I even added a switched 5v input so that when I use the player the head unit's display actually says "CD".

I've often wondered if I could wire in a changer in the same manner. As long as the audio signal from the changer to the RF modulator is close to that of the output of my portable player, I suspect I can simply not use the modulator and wire the changer directly to the head unit. Anybody tried this?

Right now I've got a portable CD player stuffed into my storage compartment under the deck. fits great, and it looks good, too. I'm running through a cassette tape interface right now, seems to work good. I'm going to wait and find a late model radio/CD head unit and just replace it later on...
