i have a 94 atx and i need to replace my harmonic balancer, but im not sure how to go about doing it. the outside ring on the pulley has seperated from the center and keeps going aginst the timing cover. i have just been using a three jaw puller to slide the ring back onto the disc in the center but that only works for about a week or two, and i want a more permanate fix i have tried to break the bolt loose with an impact, it just spun the engine, i tried using a breaker bar, but i couldn't find anything to use to keep the engine from turning, i tried to find the torque converter inspection plate, but i didnt see one, the only other thing that i could think of is taking the oil pan off and using something to hold the crankshaft in place while i break the bolt loose, but im not sure how easy that would be. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how they fixed it? Or how to keep the engine from turning while you break the bolt loose?

The best way to do this is to UNPLUG the DIS. Then use a 6pt 19mm socket on a 1/2 drive ratchet or breaker bar, place it on the front portion of the sub frame, your better off if you can place a piece of wood there too. Now all you have to do is go into the car and just bump the starter, it will loosen that bolt instantly.
