well, guys and gals, i tried forever to find my short in my radio wiring....to no avail....
so I removed the whole wire (containing the speaker inputs) that ran from the radio to the amp to find nothing out of the ordinary. madflame
Now I am going to hard wire the speakers, but I have a decision to make... Should I run all the wires to the rear and tie back into the "post-amp" connection....even though I will have no amp anymore...dice and splice or run straight to the speakers? shrug .....and i do have a good headunit with builtin amp....
i do understand that posibly the short is in the 'postamp' line so thatd be a chance, albeit it easier.... headbang

Are you using an ohm meter to look for the shorts? It will tell you if the wiring is grounded or shorted together.

i did do a continuity test from the radio out to 2 of the speakers (the two that were shorting) and that turned out fine, but no ohm test.....

I will tell you from experience, ALWAYS hook up your speakers to an Amp. One day I decided to hook up two 10" woofers to my system, and hardwired them to the system. Now they sound like normal speakers, and can I barely notice a diference. Just run new wires and use an amp.
