I got this SHO in lieu of cash for mechanics I had done for a customer. He thought I could take care of my 1994 SHO as he was fed up with it. I now know why. I have changed the starter, crankshaft sensor, battery cables, checked the battery, and the EGR. The car still only starts if it pleases to, which doesn't seem to be very often, and my check engine light is a permanent resident on the dash. The tac sometimes works, WHEN the check engine light goes off. I notice that this happens, usually after driving the freeway for about 20 minutes. Wierd huh? Got any suggestions. This car is really ticking me off!

Camshaft Position Sensor. Almost 100% positive.

The only other thing I'd check are the DIS grounds - The 4 screws that hold it to the manifold, the 2 crossover tube bolts, and the ground strap on the passenger side rear intake support. But if all the connections are good, its the Camshaft Position Sensor.

When my cam censor went I had the same symptoms. I noticed that when it acted up if I gave it wot while driving and wound it around 5000rpms the light would go off and the tach would spring to life.
They're cheap and easy to replace just a little confined, I had to remove my battery and use a "side winder" ratchet or else I would have had to remove the power steering res. and hoses.
