Ok, got the passenger half shaft off a-ok, but what's the deal with the little clip up on the intermediate shaft? Do I need to replace this clip? Will the clip come with the new half shaft? And is there one on the driver side?

I've just reused the one that's one there since the car was new. Never had a problem.

The clip on the inner side of the halfshaft?

Naw, the one on the intermediate shaft that's maybe a 1/2 inch from the end. On the SHOPP wesbsite it says that clip should be replaced, but I don't see any real need to replace it.

Thanks Eric :thumb:

Chris:

Your new half shaft should have another one of these circle clips on it. If not, I would suggest getting one from the parts place you bought the axle from. The small but effective clip keeps the halfshaft from coming out. Just serves as a retaining clip. With the way you drive, I would want it. ;)

oh yea, do buy another drivers side tranny seal....3.00 at AZ and will keep your leaks to a minimum. Getting it out is a bear, as is tapping it is straight ( I froze it then used a pvc pipe to get it in straight.

Well, my only tranny leak right now appears to be around the case. Both axle seals are nice and dry.

This clip I'm referring to isn't on the passenger side half shaft; it's on the intermediate shaft, about 1/2 inch from the end where the half shaft meets up.

It's no biggie though; I'm in no rush to get the car back on the road. With the current work/school schedule one SHO is getting the job done :)
