Today i started to install an H-Brace i have had laying around for a while. But when i slide it in between the 2 braces for the rear control arms, there is a gap about a 1/4 inch thick between the H-Brace and the control arm braces. Should I tighten it down any way, or leave it alone. Will it hurt my alighnment if i put this in. It seems to me if i tighten down the nuts it will pull the braces in towards each other. any help will be greatly appreciated.

I would just go ahead and crank the bolts down. I think the gap is probably just a function of how your suspension has been "tweaked" over the years. When I put in my h-brace, I put in the Ingalls control arms at the same time and it was kind of a pain because the control arm mounting points were closer together than the h-brace was wide. I had to "persuade" the h-brace in. :thumb:

Alot of the h-brace designs had a gap during install. When that was realized some seller(s) shipped extra washers to shim the gap. I wouldn't deform the box too much if I could help it.

There is no guide for this that I know of. It is about the easiest install for suspension stuff. Don't be afraid to jump in there on this one.

Just be aware of how the bolts and washers come out of the suspension box, slide the brace in and reinstall. As I noted, you may want to get some extra washers to take up any gap (if there is some) between the h-brace and the inside of the box. When I did mine years ago the gap was noticeable and I got extra washers shipped from whoever was making them at the time (Nook?). The design has been ripped off..errr..borrowed over the years and the gap remains.

If the unit didn't come painted or coated, you might want to consider some caliper paint or something to protect it from corrosion and looking purdy.

I have some pics of mine, one side was ever so slightly loose going in, and the other side was juat a c-hair tight. A little "persuasion" and it went right in.

Is BMR still doing LCAs for the SHO folks?

You can still get the ones listed for the GranPrix and use the shonut washer kit like we did.

Copy that. I thought that all of the BMR's being used on SHO's were Grand Prix/Regal arms anyway.

If you're like me, you'll end up using the GM sleeve kit on the Ingalls arms too.

The BMR's are nice but they are over 3x as much as the Ingalls arms which are just as beefy and functional. Although I needed to use the GM reducing sleeves with mine, I am pretty happy with them. I was going to wait to post a review with more details but I have no regrets with getting them. At $160ish, they are a steal. They are available from SHOsource and RCM (as well as anywhere else Ingalls products are sold).

We've got both brands and the BMR's are twice the diameter so they're definitely "beefier", but yeah, they are double the price easily. We figure once the SHO is on the street we can do a comparison between my GL and the SHO since the suspensions are the same save for the rear bars. So far I've been extremely happy with mt Ingall's bars, and so has my alignment guy.
