Hey guys... I have gurgling, drippy, gushy, watery sound coming from somewhere off center to the right of the car, sounds like it's coming from the vicinity of the firewall. It happens only on acceleration. I noticed it a while ago actually, but it only happened when I was first taking off, not really so much after that... and it was much quieter and harder to locate. Now that it's colder out, it's happening for much longer (until the car is very warm), and is a little bit louder, and again... only happens on acceleration. (I don't have to floor it or anything, regular nice driving acceleration will do.)
Did some research, and seems like it's air trapped in the cooling system, and the woosh/gush is the sound (probably) of the coolant passing through the heater core, where the air is likely trapped.
I brought it up a little bit ago here on the forums (thanks guys that got me started on where/how to research, and you all also advised me to burp it), so if you've already heard this complaint from me, now it's just a bit louder... especially having read about head gasket causes for such things, I'm a little more concerned than before. I've checked oil, coolant, smells, etc., all good. No loss of power using butt dyno method. Coolant is at the full cold line when cold, looks clean, oil looks pristine. Basically, the gurgling is the ONLY symptom apparent.
So... assuming it's air trapped in the heater core, what are the odds that I have a head gasket problem... how commonly is that the source of trapped air in coolant? If this is a very common scenario without head gasket issues, I'll just go the burping route and see how that goes. What I want to know is whether or not it's prudent to spend the dough to have a professional look at it.
