Well My Rod bearings finally went south into the oil pan friday night and a rod let loose. The shavings cycled through the engine and scored up the cylinders bad and the rod beat up the block pretty bad. Needless to say there is even my precious cams are "slightly" damaged. Anyone want some *slightly* used JE pistons? They only have slight GOUGES in the skirts
This was a $2000 mistake on my part.
Upon further investigation, it appears last time I had the intake and heads off, I must have dropped alot of gasket material down into the engien and this plugged the oil pump screen and caused starvation of oil. I never got an oil light at all, and I kick myself for not havign an oil pressure gauge in this car..
Anyways, I swapped the old trashed engine over this weekend with a stock 120,000 mile 3.0, and did a 60K on it and replaced all the seals. I miss my power , thats for sure!
So basically I am back to step one, again. Screw it. I am keepign the internals stock on this one, maybe exploring a supercharger down the road.
I am going to concentrate my efforts on the suspension and brake snow though, since I want to autocross this SHO.
