There's something fishy about this one in FL. I pulled an AutoCheck on it. Looks like it had odometer rollback (feasible since it has white faced gauges). It also has 214k according to this; ad said 133k. Something is definitely up with that.
I just called the seller about the one in your area. I can give you the detail he gave me if you'd like.
The a/c works. The car doesn't have any rust; good solid body. The guy that owns it is a GM mechanic. He bought it from a customer who said the car had shut off on him driving down the interstate. He looked at it and said the timing was off 3 notches. The belt had previously been replaced but somehow it got off time. He noticed a dirt dobber's nest around the timing cover area(car had sat up for about 6 months). Not sure if that buildup had anything to do with it getting out of time. I think he replaced the belt again and cleaned out the timing cover area. As the ad states, the car has a new clutch in it as well as some other stuff. He replaced the e-brake cables as well. There is one mis-matched tire as it had a bubble in it and had to be replaced. It's a Continental tire, I think. The rest are Bridgestone.
Cosmetically the paint is in decent shape, but he said the top had a little fading and believed someone re-cleared it. The trim around the back windows is fading a little, and the louvered sunroof shade material is coming off (which we know is common--don't know if you could find a solid black one around). My 93 had mocha interior and had the solid shade.
He said some college kid called about a week ago but was waiting for some $ to come in but hasn't heard from him yet. He's going to send me more pics.
I know you're alot closer and have easier/quicker access to buying it. If for whatever reason you don't get it, let me know if it's an ok car and I may make him an offer. No rod bearings have been done to it though, which is probably an easy job for you to do; not so much me.
I'd make the trip up there if the car is worth it but whatever I buy this time around, I'd rather have a SHO enthusiast check it out. He said he could probably take a deposit, so if you don't snatch it up and still think it's a worthwhile car; I might grab it.
