Live to Drive
So I buys this car 6 years ago and from day one the tach didn't display the actual RPM's. It would lag the actual, and kinda sit there at 1250 RPM until the Rev's climbed some then it would swing over to reading high, Frustrating as ****!
Over the years, having stuff done here and there, I've triad to get this thing fixed. So I now have the DIS grounded (no help), replace tach (no help), look around engine bay aimlessly for hours and hours (no help).
About a year ago the Ford dealer installed alarm system started acting up. I finally had a friend who understands those things disable the part of the system that prevents starting the car. I asked him to keep the system in there just to light up the little 'alarm enabled' light to ward off would be thiefs!
Well the problem was if the system went into alarm mode it would make the lights flash like emergency hazard, while driving down the road! really ******* me off. I really don't need to draw any attention to myself driving around Chicagoland! So last night I yanked the main plug of this pesky little SOB.
This morning the tachometer is working fine. So I'm guessing the wire for the tach signal was passing close to some alarm system wire or the controller itself. and was subsequently queering the signal so it couldn't read right.
At long last my tach now works as it should. Let this be a lesson to anybody who may be experiencing a similar problem.
That is all!
