I DID IT!!!! well kinda...
Here's what I did.... you need 2 first gen cd players and one doner gen 1 EATC... for the display... and a dremel
Well I took the faces off all three units.... the gen 2 cd player and the 2 gen 1's, because the gen 2 has 7 little bulbs, and the first gens only have 4 per unit.
SO.... this i what I did... i Kinda ripped off the little light bulb condoms fromt he second gen cdplayer, and I pulled out the bulbs from the back on the first gen cd players to get the whole cover off of the bulbs, and i wasn't worried about breaking them, not gonna use them. What you could do is the same for the second gen player but there really isnt' alot of slack for the bulbs, and i didn't want to yank out the bulbs...
I kinda just shoved the green covers over the bulbs and they stuck anyways... the aren't going anywhere to beginwith either...
The display.... well i took the little metal retainer off of the gen 2 display to take out the teal "sheet thing" and used the metal retainer as a guide to dremel the size of the green display on the doner EATC... that just kinda pops out from the back of the EATC.. some disassembly required.... it's kind of a tight squeeze putting the gen 2 cd player back together but it goes.
AND IT'S GREEN!!!!
Although I ran into a few problems.... had a really REALLY hard time putting it back together so all the buttons pushed in, still having problems... mainly the seek and search buttons because they pivot, and I also ran into the problem of only HALF the display lighting up  I BROKTED SOMETHING!! I really hope i didn't "burn out" some of the mini bulbs... cause that would suck.... but the other half that did light up matched PERFECTLY to the rest of the interior green displays.... the LCD (???) that has the track and time on it was also green, but dark because of the thicker plastic than it had gone through, I guess what you could do is if you can get a small piece of the green tint that i think Gila brand tint has, i think it's cool jade... though it might not match its the thin film.
SOOOO!! IS there any way to check the little bulbs to see if they are "blown" or not... cause that would suck, then i need to get another one...... I got my OHMETER out and checked, but it looks like it's in paralell circuit, so you can't really tell w/o unhooking the bulb from the circuit board... also you can't really just look at it because the darn things are frosted bulbs!!!
But I'm tired and I kinda rambled on and did a really bad job of explaing what i did so i'm sorry if it's hard to understand... I'll plug it in and you can see the half that's good....... and get a dig camera to take pictures.....
enjoy!!!!
OHHH GREEN AGAIN!
