I go to start the car...Nothing. It finally catches, then stalls right out. I finally got it running somewhat, but the idle is really irratic at times (with no CEL), but returns to normal for a short time(with CEL)...then goes irratic again No CEL).

I pulled the codes and I got

KOEO
-214--Cylinder ID curcuit failure
-528--Clutch switch circuit failure
-542--Fuel pump secondary circuit failure (I know the fuel pump was recently changed, it's possible they didn't reset the computer?)

KOER
-TPS fault during dynamic response test (maybe I didn't blip the throttle enough when I was supposed to?)
-136---Heated O2 sensor fault during KOER, indicated lean bank #2 (#2 bank would be the side closest to the firewall?)

Please help, I haven't owned this car for much more than a day...Is it testing me or something? I also have to go for mandatory inspection early next week, the way the car runs now, it'll never pass.

Oh a few more things, when it runs crappy, I have no signal to the tach, and it bucks really harsh.

I would first look into the TPS and then the O2. Make sure you performed the test properly (just review the directions somewhere). The fuel pump code (if I remember right) does not mean the pump is bad. Try resetting the EEC and see what happens.

Sounds like the CID (Cylinder ID Sensor aka camshaft position sensor) sensor.

For testing purposes: Unplug the CID sensor and try starting the car. You may have to try several times as the coumputer will have a 1-in-3 chance of guessing the correct camshaft timing. When it starts, you will have a CEL and no tachometer. The purpose of this test is to see how the engine runs once it has started. If it seems to run properly, replace the CID sensor and clear the computer's KAM.

Disregard the 528 and 542 codes for now. The TPS code was likely due to error as you supposed. If the O2 sensor was not properly heated before the KOER test (2+ minutes at 2K RPM), it wasn't warm enough to properly be tested. Be sure to follow the Quick Test preparations.

As projectSHO89 said, I think the one code that's causing you the problems is 214. I would say it's most likely a CID (PIP signal) failure, caused by a faulty cam pos. sensor.
I know there is a few other SHO guys in Montreal, maybe they may be able to assist?

Ahhh... I didn't associate that code with CID. :) Go there first, it is very likely it will solve the problem. And it's pretty easy to change.

Ok, I got that darn CID sensor off finaly, it looked like someone tried to get at it before & striped those two 5.5mm bolts. I had to yank the intake, cam sprocket cover, move the power-steering resevoir and remove the P-S belt just to get those bolts out!

So this is the piece that's making my car run so bad? is there another part of the sensor that I'm missing, because it's so small inside?

Thanks all for your help! The new sensor is in, and the car works great!

While I was down there, I changed the power steering belt and tried to change the alternator/AC belt, but it seemed too short. What is the correct # for a '94 MTX? They gave me # k060445...sound about right?

Thanks again for all the help!
